Training update!
Miles done so far……a lot!!
Training is going well despite the Great British winter weather and all the storms from the first half of the alphabet!!!
The bike is holding up well despite a few repairs, which is to be expected doing so many miles but thanks to Adrian and Co. @ Hillcourt Street Cycles she’s still riding like a dream, albeit a bit like Triggers broom now! (Only Fools and Horses Reference for anyone not familiar!) It should hopefully start to cheer up a bit as the nights get lighter. Riding round the country lanes in the pitch black is hardworking (despite the very bright lights), concentration levels need to be high as the potholes seem to appear from nowhere. Even though I’ve ridden the roads a bazillion times it’s still weirdly different in the dark when you’re tired from a very long day at work!
Time is the real killer though with all the training as there just isn’t enough of it! Leaving home at 5:30am several times a week to get a couple of hours riding in before the standard minimum 12 hour day at work and then training for a couple of hours at the end of the day doesn’t leave much left for eating, stretching, strength work, sleeping, oh and seeing the family! 10 weeks to go….
